| http://www.bbc.co.uk/manchester/music/2003/08/27/elbow_guy_grinning_406.jpgI bring you back on topic now! Well it was me who started the thread! (btw. how do you know that Guy looked at this Thread?? *nervouslook*) Althought I am thinking that it's not off-topic discussing other lyricists. It has something to do with influence I guess. And there aren't sooo many good songwriters out there. Knowing that Guy can write lyrics that could stand all alone is amacing. You read them and it's like a poem. This in connection with the music of Elbow and his voice... well, masterpice created I would say! | |

| It's not of topic comparing GG to other lyricists. It IS however, off topic to discuss whether Travis and The Beatles are any good or not. | |

| Well Guy - if you're taking a look at this now - just want to tell you how much I love your work. You also seem like possibly the nicest bloke in the world. When I play the game "name 4 people who you would like to go down the pub with" with my mates my four are always Mark Radcliffe, Stuart Maconie, Simon Armitage and you!! Am coming to see you on 30 October in Manchester and suggest we all meet for a light ale/dry cider!! My round!! xx | |

| Armitage is very funny, but I reckon he would be an asshole in person. Whereas i'm not (probably). Yay, Guy! | |

| Nooooo, my post has gone!!! f*** it! Ok, I try to remember it! *thinking* It started with: I had to give this thread a lift. Since they've won the Mercury I've read and watched (thanks to youtube) a lot of interviews and it comes even more to my mind why I like Guy. There are celebrities out there that are just "oh the hills are alive with the sound ouf music" like and on the other hand there are the relly depressed "everything suck" type of stars. Guy is in between. I like that. Because in my opinion live isn't just great or sad. And you recognise that while reading interviews from him. Sometimes he's good for a laught and sometimes he is not just giggling and joking around. I think that people who have experienced something in live are more interesting. It doesn't matter what it was - you just notice it. | |

| I'm feeling very appreciative today. So, does Guy not have one of the best voices on the planet? I think yes. I was listening to some Elbow c.d.'s in the car this a.m. and wanted to melt into a puddle of goo as a result of Guy's silky-smooth voice on Mirrorball. I thought that might be dangerous as I was driving in heavy traffic, so I resisted the urge. Also want to add that I'm loving Tower Crane Driver quite a bit lately. I love how it nicely shows Guy's full range. It is an Elbow day today! | |
