Mercury Prize - Tonight!

Tonight's the night of the Mercury Prize and BBC2 will be screening a special half hour program at 10pm (Tuesday 9th September).

Hosted by Lauren Laverne, the show will feature highlights of the evening's performances as well as chat and analysis. The winner will be announced at 10.20pm live on air - make sure you tune in and cheer Elbow on.

Then on Friday 12th September, the BBC broadcasts a 65 minute Mercury Prize Special in the Later with Jools Holland slot at 11.35pm on BBC2, featuring full performances from the awards as well as interviews with all the nominees and an in depth chat with the winner.

Result! Oh boy oh boy oh boy!! I know I haven't been around in a while...traded my Elbow obsession for an Obama obsession - at least until he gets voted in - but I was waiting all day to find out the winner and I couldn't be happier that it's Elbow!! Oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!

I am genuinely so proud of them! Bands I love I follow like I would a football team. I support them I guess. When Jools said Elbow my Mum and I cheered so much! (bless her!)

Glad they have got some recognition at last. Guy and co were clearly fairly pished but they were so overcome. For me it was between Radiohead and Elbow but Radiohead are in another league to be honest. It is nice to see the critics seeing sense for a change and not going with someone as just plain dire as Adele or that wannabe Burial guy.

I'm just so happy to hear about their win. It's about time others realize how unique and wonderful OUR Elbow is. Yes, OUR.

I'm so glad they won, even if i am a firm believer that Gruff Rhys is as close to being god as any man could ever be. TSSK is better than Stainless Style though...
