Fly Boy Blue / Lunette

The new single, Fly Boy Blue / Lunette, has arrived!

I absolutely love this song - there is a break in it about halfway through, 'Lunette' I presume now - I got instant goosebumps.

Cannot wait to hear it again.......OH YES !

im not sure what im hoping for, but this i like... it has a comfort blanket feel to it... perhaps the boys are coming home?

Like a time machine to asleep in the back but with their glorious orchestra as some kind of amazing anachronism

I'm in Canada, but I'm pretty sure I successfully pre-ordered the album when I bought the Jodrell Bank DVD. iTunes may be different I guess. As might Canada

Well that really hit the spot and it seems to get better and better with every listen. Well done lads - I'm loving it!

ETA: OK, I'm on my eighth listen in a row...more to love every time I hear it. And wow, Guy's lyrics and Pete's bass in particular are KILLING me, y'all.

I can't get over the squall of that sax! But I feel ya - the bass at the end reminds me very much of Dear Friends. Really, really diggin' it.   

eh, wasn't too fetched by the first half, but the second half... oh yes.

Got a bit misty when I heard the second half start up (around the 3:12 mark) and thought, "Guy's back. The boys are back." Just lovely. You never realize how much you love/adore the band until a new song pops up. Two more months!

I'm relieved like I can't begin to describe. Give me 9 more in that vein and we'll forget barb! ever happened.

Yeah, believe me, that sax was also making me very happy. Honestly, every time I hear it I'm picking out something new to focus on, and all of it's sounding extremely right so far. Very promising indeed!

Hello! Not posted on here for a while (band inactivity and all that). I'm in the odd position of having heard the new track 1 1/2 times, having missed the first/Fly Boy Blue half of the song on the radio yesterday and only heard the whole thing in full last night.

I'll have to give it a few more listens before it sinks in. Doesn't strike me as being your typical lead-off single, by any means (not a bad thing). An intriguing taster for the album.

first listen thought the brass was a bit harsh but enjoyed the transition into what is really the second of two tracks. second listen growing on me more.... March will come round soon enough

Listening to mark Radcliffe they mentioned it wasn't to lead-off single, that will be something else. This is a give away apparently...

Well... While I do think that 'Fly Boy Blue / Lunette' (more the former part than the latter) is a minor track as a first single compared to Grounds of Divorce, Forget Myself (etc.), it is definitely more vibrant than BARB: I love that. And 'Lunette' is fantastic, as are the lyrics. I've missed you, Elbow!!
