I did mention it on 13 Feb... Thanks for considering it anyway.

| I say leave the title as it is, but someone with photoshop skillz should do a picture of Peter Gabriel attacking a mirrorball with an axe, just to keep it on-topic | |

| I'm quite taken with "Mercy Street." I like the introspectiveness of Elbow's interpretation of the song. iTunes is acting up on me, though. It wouldn't let me buy the single. I had to listen to the stream on Peter Gabriel's website. (If this happens to leave an mp3 in the browser cache, I can't help that.) I'm looking forward to the whole covers album next year or so. | |

| Just on the thread title issue, what about adding a question mark at the end to solve MT's dilemma? | |

| I suppose you can do what you like but...... Isn't changing the post title kind of like rewriting history - (Newspeak / Doublethink - George Orwell would be spinning) Are we in danger of slipping into a totalitarion regime ??? - Soon it will be you can post any post you like as long as its from the pre-approved list of 'Victory' posts. eh, eh ?? (couldn't find a 'stirring' smiley!) Edit - heres one ! (for anyone who thinks i'm barking mad - referring to 1984, thats the book not the year !) | |

Thanks Hesh! Funny enough, the lad who came top on our Comms degree course is (was last time I was in touch with him, anyway) a spin doctor. Now I bet he could do a very credible line in Doublethink...

| Kind of on-topic-ish for this thread (it'll give the mods something to do if not)... I've just heard Fever Ray's own interpretation of Mercy Street. Quite different from Elbow's but lovely with it. http://soundcloud.com/fever-ray/mercy-street | |

- Just got the new Peter Gabriel covers album 'Scratch My Back'. I have to say I was really looking forward to hearing his interpretation of Mirrorball, sadly it fails to deliver. It bears no similarity to the original musically, and just sounds like the lyrics being spoken/sung over an orchestral arrangement for a completely different song.
I think you've missed the entire point of what gabe was trying to achieve with that project. It wasnt a cover versions album in the rick rubin sense, its his interpretation of the composition...
