| Mylo Xyloto on Spotify.
Yes, I know, I know, I've railed against Coldplod previously and it really is a load of pretentious old twaddle with straightforward melodies and stadium baiting songs. The thing is, they are quite handy at penning a lighters in the air singalong and, much to my surprise, I'm rather enjoying MX's obvious charms. Mrs K wants this album - perhaps I'll get it from our lad for her for Mother's day.
Altogether now.

| Buzzcocks - Operators Manual compilation.
Starts with Orgasm Addict and then gets better. One of the great singles bands, they had all the energy of punk but allied this to smart songwriting and sharp tunes. Ever Fallen In Love is of course brilliant, and my personal fave, I Don't Mind, is just over 2 minutes of perfection.
Best thing to come out of Bolton?

| "301" by The Esbjorn Svensson Trio (E.S.T.)..... admittedly I'm slightly schponged on doob but this year's posthumous album of future jazz/post rock/whatever is really doing it for me | |

| Trueloves Gutter by Richard Hawley
Sparse sounding with vocals of absolute gold - lyrically wonderful - Hawley's helping this Mancunian chill a bit this evening.....

| I can't stop listening to The Middle East, a little too late as I've just discovered they are no more, however really loving what they have produced and then they get a mention on the Finest Hour a few weeks back.

| ^ That's one of the best tracks on MX. Love that song.
Anyway, I've been listening to a lot of Staind lately. I'm just allowing myself to marinate in the back catalogue for a bit.

| I think I may be one of the last people to get hold of a copy of Noel Gallagher's HFB - despite my original disdain towards the songs/singles, they have now got me in a headlock.
Good stuff. | |

| Here We Go Magic's 'A Different Ship': only discovered this because it was produced by Nigel Godrich and I'm a big Radiohead fan (both he and Thom Yorke are big Here We Go Magic fans), but after a few listens this album really gets under your skin. It's hard to pin down the sound exactly but while it's certainly got a lot of artsy-New-York-indie about it, I can also hear elements of Pavement, Talking Heads, early Mercury Rev, and even a touch of The Police during the latter half. | |
