New Elbow Fansite/Social Network Plug

Just a quick update: The new elbowfans site is almost ready.

There's a chunk of admin to do for a lot of the transferred files, then at some point next week I'll email all current members with their new login details. I'll also put more info on here.

Please bookmark us as the old Ning & temporary Grou.ps sites will be disappearing shortly.

There's been a problem generating a new password for ex-Ning members: If that's you, please go to the site with your old Ning username - or email you used when you originally registered - and reset your password here: http://elbowfans.org/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

You'll also need the new generic password I sent in the first of the two emails sent to members last night to access the Archive & Media.

If you're not already signed up, new members can register themselves without quite so much faff.

Get an invite

Well, obviously. What I mean is, where and how do I get one? When I go to the site, there's no info at all for either of those things, and the only thing that pops up is a thing telling me to "sign in" with my e-mail and password. I can't sign in if I haven't registered, and there's no way to do that, either.

I'm so lost. D:

If you read the whole thread you will see that the Ning site was dropped.

I checked your link, just to make sure. Yes, that was the site I was at.

NeonChoir. Suggest you send a PM to mrswoman. She should be able to help as it's her site.

There was a bit of trouble with bots and trolls signing up there at the back end of last year, so she changed the way you have to register so as to more easily weed out undesirables.

PM sent to NeonChoir.

For any other folk who'd like to sign up, either mention me @elbowfans on Twitter or PM me on here with these details:
- Your choice of username
- your email address
- your preferred password (you can change this again once you've signed in)

You'll then get an email with your login details confirmed, plus ANOTHER generic password which you'll need to access the archive & media sections.

You can also email me these details to the address posted on the elbowfans site.

Whats up with elbowfans? I can't log in anymore and I seem to have disappeared off the home page and groups I was in?
I know it was working recently cos I mentioned the site to Neonchoir and torkidlx to join, and saw they both had.

Mmm, yes I couldn't access the archive in there today either, was going to try again tomorrow...

Hi, Jones, when you log in can try can you see if I'm even on there?...maybe its my computer? when I logged in recently just some of the stuff I'd added was there, but now I can only see half the conversations with members...like their post, but not mine.

Edit day later....Well weird.
I've now reappeared on the members list today, but when I try to log in, with same username and password as ever...used about 5 days ago, says :

For those who've been having difficulties with the elbowfans site:

Why?
I've had problems with spam & troll attacks, so have had to tighten-up the security on the site which has been in place for some time now. The main software which drives the site is due another major upgrade soon which should - *fingers crossed* - allow a little easing up of that, but for now this is how it works:

Signing up
If you'd like to sign up, please PM me on here with your preferred username and the email address you use so I can register you. You'll get an initial password which you can then change on your profile page. In future I hope to enable self-registration again, but it's not possible right now.

Login Problems
If you are a member and you can't log in, go to http://elbowfans.org/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword.

If you can login to the main site, but not access the Archive & Media sections (members only), please use the SEPERATE generic password for those. Your main personal password doesn't work for those.

If you haven't had problems before, but can't logon on a particular day - or the site is v e r y s l o w - it may be me doing maintenance. Please try later.

For any other glitches on the site that I haven't covered here, PM me.

(At some point in the future I'll look at revamping the site completely to make it easier to use, but not for the foreseeable due to work & study commitments.)
