| Yes, with David Gilmour as well, should be good.
"This Tuesday night (23rd September) Elbow will celebrate their Mercury win the best way they know how - with a spot of live performance on the Later With Jools Holland show at 10pm on BBC2.
An extended hour long version of the show will then be screened on Friday night (26th September) at 11.35pm on BBC2. Featuring even more performances and chat from Elbow and other guests including Roots Manuva and Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd - it's your perfect post-pub prescription.
And, even better, thanks to the wonders of modern technology UK residents can now enjoy the show on the BBC's iPlayer, allowing fans to watch Elbow's performances whenever they like for a whole week after the terrestrial broadcast."

| Watched this last night, was very good, though watching Elbow without any banter seems wrong somehow.
They played "Grounds" and "One Day Like This", hopefully there's loads more on Friday's show.
Though I hate that Katy Perry song, the live version sounded LOADS better. Nice to see David Gilmour on there, a real shame to hear that Rick Wright had originally been scheduled to appear, but had called DG to say he was too ill.
Not too impressed with Roots Manuva, but that's not really my kind of thing.

Not too impressed with Roots Manuva, but that's not really my kind of thing. I agree with MrMagical. Really missed a bit of a chat with the lads. Let's just hope Friday will be better! And Roots Manuva... definitely not my thing either...

| who else thinks that David Gilmour's performance was a bit... wel, flat? Rick Wright was a legend. Ithought Gilmour would have put real effort in to reflect his current mood; he seemed a bit... weak. i dunno... | |

i think he was really struggling to keep with it. Something slower and simpler would have been better I think. That song he performed was a bit too 60's i think.

Did anyone see Guy nodding along approvingly? Well you didn't... I pointed that out! My fave bit of the programme was when I said something (can't remember what but was jokely rude about Mr Garvey) and you shouted 'Leave Guy alone!' Gay for Guy.. I tell ya

I always think David Gilmour is a bit flat. But thats probably because i think he's a bit well, er... shit. Don't hate me.

He played Remember A Day for a reason, I think. It was originally written and sung by Rick and he used to sing it a hell of a lot better than Gilmour does by the way. That song and Paintbox are two of my favourite Floyd tunes - both written by Rick. R.I.P. For what it's worth, I enjoyed the whole of last night's programme, apart from the aforementioned Roots Manuva. I just don't get that shit! EDIT nice little interview with Pete and Guy http://www.bbc.co.uk/later/

| I'm not a fan of most rap, but I have to say I rather enjoyed Roots Manuva's performance on Tuesday. It was a bit hat-stand and the music had a strange woozy quality to it.
The main enjoyment I get out of Later is being introduced to lots of good new music. I have to thank the show for introducing me to the likes of Polyphonic Spree, Arcade Fire and Sigur Ros. I enjoy being surprised by exposure to stuff I'd never listen to normally.
One aspect of the show that's usually interesting is when they wheel out a "legend" to demonstrate that they aren't dead yet. Though not always in a good way. Did anyone see the Only Ones on Later earlier this year? It was very sad. Peter Perrett's drug-addled, death-rasp parody of his former voice did actually seem like something from beyond the grave. Another planet indeed.

| Hmmm: Guess the longer Friday version of Later gives the bands a chance for a retake AND a costume change: Katy Perry was wearing a completely different outfit to Tues, had no campanology intro and a flatter sound. There ya go. | |
