Secret 7" 2014

Just been announced that Elbow are involved in this year's Secret 7" project in aid of War Child, donating "Grounds For Divorce" to the awesome project. I was lucky enough to be involved in the project last year and had 5 sleeves in the final exhibition for Elton John, Laura Marling, etc. It's a remarkable project.

Basically 7 artists donate a track each (the quality line-up of artists alongside Elbow this year are Black Sabbath, T-Rex, Roxy Music, Lorde, Jake Bugg and Massive Attack). Each track is pressed 100 times onto 7" vinyl. Each then has a one-off sleeve designed by famous (and not so famous) artists and designers, that are this year selected by a panel of judges. No text/copy allowed so you don't know exactly which artist the sleeve has been designed for or who the designer is (hence the 'Secret' bit). They'll be a final exhibition (presumably at MotherLondon again) with all 700 sleeves in April, that are then sold (£40 each last year) first come, first served on Record Store Day. All money raised this year is going to the charity War Child.

Might have, might not have... it's all a big secret! I MIGHT have entered a design for each of the artists and MIGHT be waiting til 24th March to see if any were successful. Was great to be involved in such a great project last year, so fingers crossed!
How's you? New album arrived today so enjoying a couple of dedicated listen-throughs on headphones. Sounds great. Beginning to wish I'd bought a ticket for London! Probably will through some source nearer the time.

Secret 7" sleeve designs went public today, and YES I'm involved, alongside some HUGE names in the art world (Jake & Dinos Chapman, Sir Antony Gormley, Sir Paul Smith, Jeremy Deller, Stanley Donwood and Modern Toss to name but a few)! All 700 sleeves can be viewed here…

London people, the Secret 7" exhibition opens it's doors to the public this weekend (12th/13th April, 10am-6pm) at Mother London, close to Shoreditch High Street Overground. Amongst the 700 there are 100 'Grounds For Divorce' sleeves on show by the famous (and not so famous). Went to the Private View last night... it all looks awesome in the flesh, some totally amazing art. Alternatively you can view all the sleeves in the onlibne gallery at http://www.secret-7.com/gallery/ but get down there and take a look if you can.

Most of the 700 sleeves/7"s sold on Record Store Day. The remaining few are up on War Child's ebay page.
