Q Mag has just released their suggestions for this years Mercury Prize short list. See link:

http://news.qthemusic.com/2011/07/barclaycard_mercury_prize_-_wh.html

From what they write it's looking promising for Elbow, however will Adele keep them at bay?

If not Elbow I'd be VERY HAPPY if Anna Calvi won it - a great album.

BUT NOT JESSIE J !!!! Evil or Very Mad

Paddypower have got the odds on their site now. Highlights are:

Top 5 in betting
Adele 9/2 Joint Favourite
PJ Harvey 9/2 Joint Favourite
Wild Beasts 13/2
James Blake 7/1
Anna Calvi 8/1

Selected Others
Leisure Society 25/1
Elbow 33/1
Radiohead 33/1
Arctic Monkeys 40/1
Beady Eye 50/1

In terms of having a realistic chance and deserving it, I'd go for Wild Beasts

Odds will undoubtedly change and we've not even had the nominations yet!

Nominees Announced tomorrow 19th July
Elbow, Wild Beasts, Horrors and Arctic Monkeys have been my favourite UK albums so far this year

My non UK faves (and therefore not up for the Mercury Prize) are Jesca's EP, Death Cab For Cutie, The Low Anthem and Bon Iver
