Great Chops

I have to say this and I have to say this now, in this instant, as I'm sat listening to the band playing a 'live' performance of The Night Will Always Win. That Guy Garvey fella has got tremendous chops. Such power and restraint. Achingly beautiful, his voice just reaches inside, touches places rarely visited.

I don't think there's a vocalist out there who can touch him, to be honest. Certainly not in that area of music. He's often compared to Peter Gabriel, in his styling and sound. Sorry, but I think he trounces Gabriel in practically every way. Gabriel can't cut it 'live' like Guy, and never could, and his sad songs are always so many tears from a glass eye. With Guy, though, it's sincere and powerful...and he never had to dress up like a flower to get his point across!

Now that's an expression I've never heard before - so many tears from a glass eye.

I think John Bramwell has great chops too.

Nom nom...tasty looking chops, there, Cozzer! BUT the chops in question here are different. According to Wikipedia, 'chops' is a slang term for the basic set of musical skills a musician possesses.

I agree 100% about Guy's chops (and John Bramwell's) but have to dispute Peter Gabriel's lack of them...
