| I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about it. I'm not familiar with "Game of Thrones," so that's probably part of it. I also think that it just feels like a Matt Berninger feature, as opposed to it being a legit National song. Ionno. Matt's voice does sound very lovely on it, though. | |

| To me it feels more of a Dessner piece. But I agree, it's not really a National song. | |

| I was pretty surprised when they popped up on Game Of Thrones, thought it was a very interesting choice on the TV show's part as, excluding that episode, the entire score so far is orchestral.
"The Rains of Castamere" is a song in the GoT world so the lyrics were already there, but very curious to know whether The National wrote the melody themselves, or if that was already written too and they were just approached to record it.

| Having looked it up, they were just asked to perform it. The lyrics are from the book, as you say, and the music was written Ramin Djawadi, the person responsible for all the music present on the HBO series. | |

Although to be fair, anything off Alligator and Boxer could be in there. Two albums devoid of filler tracks..

| I really need to listen to more of these guys. I love the few tracks I've heard so far, mostly what's been played on Finest Hour - ie. Green Gloves, The Geese of Beverly Road, and England.
Any suggestions on where in their discography to start listening?

| I love what I have heard of this band but I need to listen to them properly. I have an especial love of their song "England" from High Violet. | |

Any suggestions on where in their discography to start listening? Personally, I started out with "High Violet," and I think it's pretty much perfect. Maybe start with that and work your way backwards, throwing "Trouble Will Find Me" somewhere in the mix.
