I'm currently listening to "Time It's Time" from Talk Talk's "The Colour of Spring" - a real transitional album bridging the synth pop years and the epic soundscapes that would follow. Listening now, it is quite surprising a)how good it is and b)how well it sold at the time.

Ooooh, I love Talk Talk!
Especially that album (reminds me of my very early teens: I was the only one in my class that liked them ) Must get it on CD as I still only have it on (very bruised and battered) vinyl.

Why? Because sometimes you have to remind yourself what a spine-tinglingly good band they were, it is so easy to take them for granted. Just listen to "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" for example, hypnotic heavy rock genius. Forget all the historical significance and just listen to the music, it's ace.

If anyone's thinking 'crikey, Jonny just doesn't stop listening to that band!', there's a good explanation. Two things I don't do in the company of others - visit the Elbow forum and listen to the 'Tree. Purely cuz they don't seem to be things that interest my mates!

But yeah. I am loving Porcupine Tree.
